Challenge # 10

Here is another challenge from Whimsical Scraps and Bugs. We had to use the sketch and it was a 3 -2 -1 challenge. We had to use 3 patterned papers, 2 embellishments, and 1 flower cut from any cartridge. It was very hard for me to use that many patterns and few embellishments. Now as I am looking I think I used 1. sewing 2. white pen 3. pop dots 4. glossy accents 5. rolling stamp for the date and 6. ribbon. OOPS... Some of those I don't think of as embellishments but as necessities! Well I did TRY...

I used Storybook for all of the cuts except for the circle which I used George. All of the paper is from Cloud 9.

Sadie is so cute in this picture but she was not very cooperative when it was being taken which is typical of a 3 year old! Thanks for stopping by!

Ribbon Holder

I have been SEARCHING for a better way to store all of my ribbon. I have had it in clear plastic totes but it is not easy to see or get to. I looked for ribbon holders that you could buy in stores but they were expensive and didn't hold very many spools! So I went on a quest to find something that could work in the space that I have and could hold a lot of spools. I went to the store Home Goods looking for something else and came across this beautiful tall table in the garden section of the store! I was so excited! I had some dowels and had my friend cut them for me (Thanks Paul!) and now I have a ribbon holder!!!! I really like it and it fits perfectly in the space that I wanted it! I am so excited about it that I have to share it on my blog! Have a organized day!

U make life Sweet Card

The next challenge for Whimisical Scaps and Bugs was to make a Valentines Day card. We were to use whatever cut we wanted and we were to use lots of ribbon. They even said they wanted "big bows". So I made a really big bow and then designed a card around it! I used 4 different ribbons, because I LOVE ribbon!

I got some Bazzill Basics Paper called Dotted Swiss. I have my Swiss Dots cuttlebug folder but the paper already comes that way! I had to try it and I really like it! I also used Basic Grey~Eva collection for the patterned paper.

The kids had just finished off a box of fruit snacks and so I used that to cut out the U from the Base Camp cartridge and then cut the U again with the light pink Bazzil and then I put stickles on the dots. I also cut out the postage stamp charm out of Base Camp.

The SUPER CUTE cupcake is from the new Home Decor cartridge. I really LOVE that cartridge! There are so many beautiful cuts on it!!! I am borrowing it from a friend (thanks Val!) and it is going to be PAINFUL to give it back!

I also have always wanted to put a tag on ribbon with a safety pin so I tried it on this card. It is pretty fun! I will be doing it again I am sure! I also used mini green rain dots on the "make life sweet". I used my 2 favorite punches. I also used diamond glaze on the cherry.

This was a super fun card to make! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!!!

Wild Card Monster Card

This is the monster card in the Wild Card Cartridge. I think it is hillarious! I did NOT like it at all when I saw it in the handbook. Then I decided to cut one out just to see what it really was all about and I DO like it now. It is just so wierd that you have to love him!
I think what made me change my mind about him was the ENVELOPE! I love that it has eyes and teeth!
I used double sided cardstock so that the one side is green for my monster and then the other side is yellow so when you fold the monster down it has a yellow background. I think that double sided paper will come in handy a lot for this cart!

Wild Card Scallop Card

My friend Janel got the Cartridge Wild Card for her birthday. She brought it to my house before she even had a chance to play with it because she knew how bad I wanted the cart. She was going to go to a movie and left it for me to play with while she was gone. That was over a week ago and she has come over and played with it at my house but then she leaves it for me to babysit. I have been making tons of fun cards! I love it! It is funky but very fun. It will cut out the card and then the envelope to match! I made this one for my Grandma in Idaho. I will have to get it to Janel so she doesn't think that I have kidnapped it but as long as I have it I will PLAY!

Heart LO

This LO was done for our heart challenge on Whimsical Scraps and Bugs. We needed to use a heart from any cartridge and we could use buttons (one of my favorite things) and ribbon (also a favorite of mine) BUT we could NOT use glitter. It also had to be in red, pink, and white.

I recieved a card from Gramma Sharon for my anniversary last year that had buttons inside the heart and I have wanted to do a LO like it ever since. You should go and check out all of the ways that the other designers came up with for the heart. They are all so different and so cute!

The heart and scallop behind it is from Doodlecharms. The swirls are from Home Accents. The XOXO is from Wild Card (Thanks Janel for letting me borrow it! I love it!!!!)

Fall LO

Our challenge from Whimiscal Scraps and Bugs was to use this sketch and create a layout and of course use our cricut! I really liked this sketch and was very excited to do it, however we just got home from a vacation that was almost 3 weeks long and I was (and still am) having a hard time adjusting to "real life". I finally sat down tonight and made the layout. It was a lot of fun to do. I used basic grey paper (which is my favorite line right now) and paper doll dress up for the corn stalk, speaking of fall for the pumpkins, and alphalicious for the word FALL. I did my journaling on vellum and a little bit of sewing from my new purple Pixie sewing machine (thanks Kimi)! Have a wonderful and productive week! I am going to try and have one myself!

I love the picture of all 4 kids running in a row down the row of corn! Good times....

California Christmas

I love our California Christmas traditions. We go swimming at my parents house. They heat up the pool and it is so nice and warm. Rain or shine we swim. I made this layout for the whimsical scraps and bugs challenge. We had to make a layout with snowflakes from any cartridge. I am on vacation and so it was interesting because I had to borrow a cartridge from a friend down here and I used my moms little bug. I love that I am able to still scrapbook even though all of my stuff is at home.

My sister is an awesome photographer and I had her take this today while the kids were swimming! These are pictures of me when I was a girl! We love Southern California!!!! Thanks Tracie for your awesome skills!

Christmas Card

Here is my first challenge for Whimisical Scraps and Bugs. You should go and check it out. The ladies created some amazing things!!! We had to use a tree cut from any cart. I used Joys of the Season for the tree, the star, and the word joy. I also used Calligraphy Collection for the frame behind the word joy. I do not even own these carts but I am LUCKY enough to have good friends that do!!! They were so much fun to play with and of course are on my new (and growing) wish list!!! I used diamond stickles on the stars and the tree and the word joy. You can never have too much sparkle at this time of year! I also used dark gold tuelle which is becoming another favorite thing to scrapbook with!

Teacher Gift~ Wordbook

I have to give a huge shout out to Monique (http://monkeydoodlecricut.blogspot.com/) for her inspiration and wordbook cutfile! I am now totally obsessed with them and I can think of ANY occasion that could warrant a wordbook! THANKS MONIQUE!

This is my first one that I have made. It is for Mrs. Peart who is my daughters AMAZING teacher. I am so blessed to have the most amazing teachers for my kids this year! The colors that I chose are perfect for her! She is bright and fun! If you haven't had a chance to make a wordbook you should try!

I first cut out the pages of the book out of CEREAL BOXES! (I started using my chipboard but I was having to do multiple cuts and every so often it would get off and ruin my chipboard!) So I switched to cereal boxes and I don't really notice a difference in stability!

Here is the part that makes is so easy! I cut out the 1st page with the paper that want to cover the letter "P page" with (for this book). Then I take the paper that I want to cover the "E page" with and FLIP IT UPSIDE DOWN and cut the "P page" again. Then flip the paper so that the pattern shows again and then cut the "E page". That way the paper will be the same on both sides of the paper. (*if you will notice that I DID NOT do this for the first page of the book, but I figured it out for the rest of the pages!!!!)

I wrote on each mat what size picture to put in so that it would still have a border around the picture.

I used George for the rectangle, Base Camp for the letters, Home Accents for the embellishments, and Stone Script for the words on the last page. I used glossy accents from Tim Holtz to glue and to make the work "FAMILY" shinny.
